I’m Kirsten

I am deeply passionate about the therapeutic and healing process. My appreciation and reverence for the unique nuances of each individual's experience only continues to grow. I hope to help inspire curiosity within my clients about themselves, their relationships and the world. If you have a desire to live more authentically and feel more embodied, coaching or therapy may be a wonderful resource for you.

My Journey

Like many counselors, I was drawn to the field after personal therapy helped change my own life. I have an intimate relationship with and lived experience of trauma recovery, grief and loss. Pain is no stranger to me, which serves me as I sit with clients. I am able, with ease, to sit with suffering and discomfort. If you have received the message from people in your life that your pain is "too much", know that it won't be for me.

My path to motherhood was arduous, excruciating and unconventional. It involved pregnancy losses, infertility, fertility treatments and a very difficult birth. I remember the darkness, loneliness, despair and heartbreak of infertility and birth trauma. The uncertainty, anxiety and anger along the way. The mourning of how I thought my family would look or grow. The grief of what I thought my birth and postpartum would be like.

One of my teachers from the Touchstone Institute, Mara Tessler Stein, says that "the first thing you lose in a perinatal trauma is your innocence and the second thing is your community." I was shocked by the lack of support available in the community to women experiencing infertility and other types of perinatal trauma.

What Inspires My Work

As I age and have the honor to continue working with clients, I become more amazed by the resilience of human beings. Witnessing clients' healing processes and my own personal experience with post traumatic growth inspires me to do the work that I do. If we allow it to, trauma can deepen us, grow us, soften us and stretch our heart's capacity to love more fully.

It is my life's purpose to help support women through life's most challenging experiences and seasons. Whether that is surviving sexual trauma, preparing for IVF, integrating birth trauma, grieving the loss of how you thought your path to motherhood would look or navigating the struggles of being a parent, I am here. Come sit with me.

Education + Training

Originally from Northern Virginia, I have lived in Boulder County for more than 25 years. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Cultural Anthropology from CU Boulder, it felt clear that solely studying people would not be a fulfilling career option for me. I wanted to go deeper, to help facilitate change and healing. I received my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University and am grateful every day for the work I get to do.
